IV Edition WOMART JAM

Rebobinart and the Association Intercultural Dialegs de Dona collaborate in the creation of ten artistic murals to recognize immigrant women.

As part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, on Sunday 5 March the engines of WOMART JAM will start again. For the fourth consecutive year, Rebobinart presents this activity with an aim to promote female talent in urban art, make situations of gender inequality visible and claim the need to eradicate sexist violence in any context. This year, they’re collaborating with the Intercultural Association Diálegs de Dona, a welcoming and socializing space for immigrant women that works to facilitate and contribute to their autonomy and social cohesion with the territory through intercultural dialogue.

Under the slogan “Our roof is not made of glass, it is made of concrete”, Rebobinart celebrates the fourth edition of Womart JAM by inviting ten female artists to express their views on the walls of Wallspot in the Parc de les Tres Xemeneies in Barcelona. This will be combined with messages and testimonies critical of the system excluding immigrant women collected from the Intercultural Association Dialegs de Dona.

From 10 am on Sunday until well into the afternoon, ten artists such as G. Nivaria, Iris Draws Stuff or Gemma Fontanals among others, have been selected under the curatorship of two Guest Artists from Wallspot, Secle and Emily Eldridge, and they will poetically claim the need to recognize women’s work in the visual arts and promote gender equality in the urban art sector. The evening will be enlivened with ambient music and will be promoted by Montana sprays.

So, joining the campaign that the association will develop during 8M on social networks with the hashtag #NoÉsDeVidreÉsDeFormigó, from Rebobinart we aim to turn WOMART JAM into a loudspeaker of feminist struggle that provides spaces for critical dialogue and collective empowerment through artistic creation in public space. We invite everyone who wants to participate in this day of recognition, denunciation and action to come.
