Cultural Diplomacy – How Art Serves as a Diplomatic Force

9 Artists on the power of art in the face of conflict that wishes to erase their story and identity.

Nine artists, most hailing from Ukraine where a totalitarian regime seeks to wipe out their culture and story come together to express that their voices cannot in fact be silenced. Come witness the power of art and creative expression, especially in the face of aggression and fear. For a limted time only at Espronceda Institute of Art and Culture.

We are pleased to invite you to “Dialogue”, collective exhibition of artists in residence, in the context of the project Cultural Diplomacy, Peace, Solidarity, Art & Diplomacy project in partnership with the German Consulate in Barcelona, under the patronage of ENCATC(European Culture Network for Culture Policy and management) in collaboration with the international project Kids Guernica inspired by the work of Picasso, the artistic association Embassy of Art of Ukraine, the Third Paradise by Michelangelo Pistoletto and Cittadellarte.

The project is under the artistic direction of Savina Tarsitano and co-curated together with Victoria Tissot. The project invites you to reflect, to collaborate on what we can do together, on how we can establish dialogue and solidarity between people. You are all invited to contribute bringing your ideas, reflections, and thoughts. Discovering the work and reflection of the artists involved, the exhibition wants to open the doors to a new dialogue with everyone’s help. On the occasion of the exhibition, a canvas created by the Hamburgo community of South Africa will also be exhibited, an intergenerational dialogue, which has also opened a dialogue with refugee families and children from Ukraine and with the local community and schools in Barcelona. In this context, the Guernica Remakings and Kids-Guernica project is also presented as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Pablo Picasso.
