Room to Breathe by Amelia Johannsen
Room to Breathe is a heartfelt exploration of art that embraces transformation and the sanctuary of nature and creativity. It’s a collection that seeks to remind us that sometimes, in the face of loss, we find the space to truly live. I’ve turned to art and nature as my lifelines, the places I run to when I need a breath of fresh air. They’ve been my solace during times of profound loss and grief, offering respite and renewal.
This exhibition features a mix of mediums, from ceramic sculptures that carry the weight of emotions to trencadis mosaics that reflect the fragmented beauty of life. You’ll also find mixed-media paintings that capture recent moments of inspiration and creativity.
Amelia Johannsen is a multidisciplinary artist who combines her Pacific Northwest roots with the eclectic influences of Barcelona, where she has lived since 2005. Her distinctive artworks bring together rugged textures, organic shapes, and coastal colors to create contemporary art that explores the spontaneity of nature while offering a unique perspective on the familiar. Amelia seeks to evoke a sense of motion and metamorphosis, gently reminding us that the natural world exists in a perpetual state of transformation.
