Santiago Paredes, a Buenos Aires-based artist known for his innovative blend of digital art and textile design in a visual universe that merges vibrant colors with a poetic exploration of everyday life. Since shifting his focus to digital image production in 2017, Paredes has created a body of work that reflects influences from Persian miniatures, Japanese prints, and contemporary pop culture. His art, which spans graphic art and fashion collections, highlights the interplay between art and design, revealing a chameleon-like character that adapts across various media and materials.
In dialogue with Paredes’ approach, the Chinese London-based artist Wowser Ng critiques the materialistic values of Generation Z through his appropriation of fashion and commodity imagery. His work challenges the power dynamics between commodities and individuals, offering a visual narrative that questions the influence of media and the fashion industry on youth culture. By blending abstract and concrete elements, Ng’s paintings provoke reflection on consumerism and its impact on societal values.
Adding another layer to this conversation, the Greek artist Michail Parlamas presents his painting installation “The Big Slurper,” a large self-portrait exploring the tension between the physical and digital realms. Parlamas use distorted facial features to reflect societal pressures and challenge conventional beauty norms. Inspired by historical self-portraits and modern digital distortions, his portrait reveals human identity’s raw and imperfect aspects, presenting a harmonious yet chaotic complexity.
“In the Z world” exhibition invites the viewer to engage with these diverse artistic perspectives, presenting a rich dialogue on the intersections of digital culture, materialism, and self-expression.
