About the Artist Spencer Byles
Spencer has been making sculptures from natural materials in wild forests for over 15 years. The majority of his work is made from organic and ephemeral materials.
The sculptures are only temporary and made ‘Site Specific’.
He selects each site, carefully considering it’s location and position and sources materials at that specific location. He says the inspiration for each sculpture is drawn from a miriad of ideas and experiences during the time he constructs normally months.
The places where he prefers to work are quiet and remote with a sence of abandonment.
Spencer doesn’t advertise the locations of his sculptures and prefers they are found by chance or word of mouth.
