Overview

Inspired by one of the most fascinating visual phenomena, Mirages explores light as both a source of knowledge and illusion. Through multichannel video installations and sculptures, Louise Ward Morris examines the increasingly blurred distinction between reality and its digital representations.

Drawing on philosopher Vilém Flusser's ideas and scientific research into light and optoelectronics, the exhibition considers the screen as a technological counterpart to the mirage. Both use light to create images that appear real, even when what we see is not physically present.

Developed over several years in collaboration with scientific researchers, Mirages brings together experiments with light, historical theories of color, and investigations into how digital screens shape our perception. Through transparency, opacity, and color, the works invite us to question how tangible and reliable our observable world really is.
