Home Away From Home – An Exhibition on Migration, Home & Belonging
Overview
Presented by Artist Ally and Casa dels Romanins, this exhibition brings together emerging artists from diverse cultural backgrounds who have each taken over a room within the apartment, responding to its architecture, atmosphere, and transitional nature before the space undergoes renovation.
As visitors move through the apartment, they will encounter installations, artworks, objects, sounds, performances, and personal narratives that reflect on what it means to build a life far from where we started.
Some works explore nostalgia and memory. Others respond to displacement, adaptation, transformation, and the everyday rituals that help us create a sense of belonging in a new place.
Rather than a traditional gallery exhibition, A Home Away From Home invites audiences into a domestic environment where each room becomes its own world and each artist offers a different perspective on what "home" can mean.
Whether you are an immigrant yourself, have experienced life between cultures, or are simply curious about the stories that shape our communities, we warmly invite you to join us.

FrikiFish Note
This is one I’m personally very excited about. A Home Away From Home brings together so many things I love: emerging artists, lived stories, intimate spaces, and that strange, tender feeling of building a life somewhere that wasn’t originally yours. The fact that it takes place inside an apartment just before renovation makes it feel even more special — like you’re stepping into a temporary world before it disappears.
Highly recommended if you’re interested in art that feels personal, layered, and alive. Especially if you’ve ever lived between places, languages, cultures, or versions of yourself.
