Water, a way of life. Ceramics Exhibition
January 24 @ 7:30 pm - February 25 @ 7:30 pm
The Associació Ceramistes de Catalunya presents the exhibition by Carme Riu de Martín and Mercè Tiana, entitled “Water, a way of life”
The exhibition is the result of the stay of both potters in Jingdezhen, a Chinese town well known for developing a great activity of exporting porcelain to Europe during the Modern Age. All the inspiration for the project comes from Jingdezhen, which currently has some 1,300 workshops and small ceramic factories, working with more than 26 types of porcelain.
They offer us two presentations of living nature: plants and animals, highlighting water as a medium that allows their development. Carme Riu from a typically oriental plant -bamboo-, of which a comparative study has been carried out (East – West), deepening its usefulness and aesthetics in two different types of society. And Mercè Tiana from some marine animals -the anemones- that despite their appearance and the configurations they adopt, are considered animals and not plants. These can also be found in various places around the world.
